How does tracking steps work? πŸ’‘

Before we dive into technical issues with the Walk to Plant, let's quickly go over how it should work!

The Treecard app will only track up to your step goal Once you hit your goal, you will earn your virtual tree and be prompted to plant it in the Tree Valley. 🌲

After planting the tree in the Tree Valley, your step count will be reset and you will be able to track more steps to earn even more trees. 🌳

You may see a discrepancy between the steps shown in your health app and Treecard, as our app will only count steps since your last tree claimed. Please note that we are also not tracking steps that were manually added to your health app.

Connecting to your health app πŸ“±

Walk to Plant works with your native device's health data connected to AppleHealth on iOS devices and GoogleFit on Android devices.

To make sure the Treecard app successfully logs your steps, you will need to make sure all permissions are enabled.

These permissions will usually be enabled when you first set up Walk to Plant on the Treecard app, but if your steps aren't tracking correctly, please verify your permission settings.

To verify that all your permissions are enabled please follow the steps outlined below:

  • 🍏 Enabling permissions on iOS:
Go to your phone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and search for the Treecard app.
You can learn more about this here.

  • πŸ€– Enabling permissions on Android:

Go to your phone's Settings > Apps, locate the Treecard app, and select Allow

You can learn more about this here.

Please note, that we need these permissions enabled so that your tracks can be tracked, but we never sell or share your data with anybody. Your steps are safe with us! πŸ”’
